What’s nice about my web host
I’m going on my second year with my current web host. And I’m happy to say I never felt the need to look for another ever since I’ve been with them. With my site’s entire 5 year of existence in the Internet, I’ve only had two web hosts. My main reason for leaving the former was I can no longer afford their price.
In selecting a web host, price is a big factor in determining which package to choose. As a form of recreation, creating websites and blogging should have never really occupy a major portion of my measly student’s allowance. How many meals did I skip to afford the 200PhP web hosting bill every month when I was in college?
The price of web hosting packages two or three years ago were comparably higher than now. I only had 150MB storage and 3GB bandwidth limit for approximately $4 a month (considering 50PhP = 1USD). I think my former host was generous enough to upgrade the packages to some point without raising the price. But still, its competitors overshadowed the former host’s offers with more affordable packages.
When someone I knew transfered from my former host to the current one, it prodded me to take a chance and change. At first, I had difficulty in transferring my domain name. Since the current host wasn’t able to transfer the domain on their side, I requested the former to host cureless.net for another year. I’m glad they still accommodated my request.
Another thing that made my web host most suitable for me is the mode of payment it offers. I didn’t have an internationally-accepted card, so my option was limited to hosting companies that accept bank payments. Now, I have my Union Bank Eon Card (VISA) but I still prefer the locally-owned hosts more than any other. Besides, I have an option to pay whatever amount I feel like cashing out in advance for my web hosting bills.
Related to what I previously said, not only in the mode of payment the locally-owned hosting companies have an edge over the others, but also in the way they handle customer relations. I may be telling a generalized view of said companies. But aside from the ease of feeling that a fellow Pinoy hosts my site, my current host has never failed to reply to my web hosting and site-related troubles via tickets. It’s really been a good host, in other words and I would recommend it to anyone in the Philippines whose looking for a web hosting package.
For international clients, you might want to see what Kaushal Sheth has listed about his best web hosting companies. There’s no one in the world of WordPress Themes designing who doesn’t recognize this guy. He has volumes of themes and projects to share and sell on the Internet and he surely needed only the best to host his works.
Well, personally I’ve already found my best host for now. It suits what my site offers just perfectly. I just pray that my visitors won’t reach 2,000 a day. ‘Cause by then, I would need to upgrade my bandwidth limit. ![]()
