Last gimik before Glorietta blast

This post's previous title is actually "College peeps meet-up". Yesterday, I went with my former college blockmates and friends to a dinner at Teriyaki Boy in Glorietta. Jenny Vi is leaving for Singapore to work and it was our sort of farewell dinner for her. Most of them came traveled from Libis.

Nothing seem to have changed except for some added "handles" for the guys. The geek and the crazy people seemed to have remained the same. Same battered 5×5 Rubik's cube was brought along. Same topic of conversation. Same butt of jokes. We parted along the walkway between Glorietta and Landmark as we took the cab from the Landmark side.

It was actually a fun moment to remember until the tragedy came. I just can't believe that the same place where we spent our get-together is now cordoned off by the police because a terrible incident.

We heard about the explosion that shook Glorietta at around 1:30pm. Some people in the office actually had their lunch out there. One testified to seeing Gerry's Grill's glass wall shattered in pieces. That time, no one knows about the nature of the explosion. Speculations point to some Chinese restaurant's LPG tank as the cause. We heard ambulance sirens from inside our building while anticipating for further updates on the news.

And a terrifying news was unfolded as the police is now pointing the cause of the explosion to some "hard explosives". Later on, pictures of the place of incident began spreading like virus through our emails. Sad and terrifying incident indeed.

Eight people were killed, 100 plus people injured. Was it a terrorist attack? A politically-motivated cover-up to divert the people's attention? Or just a "mere" life-threatening accident? Definitely, the causes and motives aren't determined yet at this moment. But for the sake of those who were afflicted and saddened by the incident, I hope justice prevails by PROPER investigation of what transpired.
