On books and readings
Allow me tell you honestly that I don’t read and finish every book that I get my hands on. I keep most of them in a small cabinet at home. Some I have finished by heart. Some I just like to stare at. Some which lines I have slowly read. And some which I eternally wish to continue to read.
Undeniably, it’s the fact that the computerized media has taken a larger part of the old ones’ place in my heart. But I do still have urges to feast my eyes on books whenever we pass by that Biblioarch (Fully Booked?) branch in Pasong Tamo, and them to my collection of barely-finished books. That’s why I adore and I’m amazed at some people who are continually driven by their desire to read the printed media (and blog about it).
But let me tell you again about this peculiar instance when I had a short affair with a book. It was Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s “One Hundred Years of Solitude”. I didn’t finish it in one reading (like others would proudly talk about). In fact, for as long as I could remember, it took me one, two or three months to finish the book. I had an emotional dilemma during those times, that I seem to have synchronized what I felt with every line of the book. Reading the book was like being lulled to sleep. Hence, before Kuma-chan came, my books were the king of my bunks.

On a related note, booksonboard.com is probably one of the biggest sellers of e-books and other forms of digital media formats out there. Perhaps the most helpful section in their site is their search form. Too bad though, I was looking for an SCWCD e-book but all they got were those architect level ones. I can’t imagine how helpful these reference Audio Books would be to me once I start aiming for a higher level certification.
Me too, I do not, or better said, cannot finish all the books I begin. Often I borrow several books at once from the library and then chose one or two which I really intend to read and finish. I also must admit I love audiobooks too, whereas screenreading is nothing for me…;-)
When I start reading a book, I can’t stop til I finish it. Lalong-lalo na kong interesting. But I must admit that this interest have fallen by the wayside since I started web designing.
@Beng: Yes, there are indeed those interesting, adventure/action-filled books that you can’t just stop reading.
Same thing happened to me when I got hooked on the computer. ;^^
I’ve been seeing that particular book by Gabriel Garcia Marquez in bookstores but I had no idea that it was good. And because you mentioned it now, I just might get it next time! Hehe. Madalas nahihirapan kse ako mamili ng books.

@Daniela: Speaking of libraries, it’s unfortunate that I’m not very familiar of public libraries in our country. Oh, how I miss our university lib.

I lived near the Fort for almost three years and ironically, I’ve never been to that place!
Yup. Huhu. And top that with a real-life programming job. T_T
