Pacquiao-Barrera fight knocked out Archers’ win

Is it just me or the Manny Pacquiao v.s. Marco Antonio Barrera fight totally put the UAAP Finals results out of the limelight? The final game between the UE Red Warriors and DLSU Green Archers was last Sunday, October 7, same day when the “Will To Win” boxing fight was shown on GMA (LOL).

So why have I only heard about it now?

I would answer my own question: because now’s the only time I asked about it.

Hardly anyone in the office is a fan of the Archers, except for one who shares the same Alma Mater as them. And so it wasn’t the best place to scout for news about the UAAP Season 70 finals. I didn’t even see the prime-time news talk about it. Or maybe I just missed it or perhaps it was totally skipped from Inquirer.net’s newsletter.

Not really a bad thing. But it’s just not like before. When big television networks take advantage of the fanbase and invite the winning players to variety shows like MTB or Eat Bulaga. It just happened that Pacman’s fanbase is larger than the whole population of the Philippines. This time, I guess, we won’t be having collegiate basketball players as product endorsers and TV-sitcom guests.
