Weekends and buffet
My calorie intake must have doubled if not tripled just during the weekends. The buffet tables are just as EVIL and temptuous (tempting + sumptuous) as they are.
Friday morning, I was out of our office to attend my detailed duty as an usherette at the Officer’s Clubhouse. What I love about being detailed at said place is the food.
And true to my expectations, we were served a not-so disappointing breakfast before we started our work. We were dismissed early and told to report in the evening during the fellowship night.
The evening’s highlight was the buffet table. My three companions were already starving even before the program started. Much to our relief, the short pause after the introductory remarks signified that the table was ready. Three meat viands, buttered veggies and a really soft leche flan. Good enough.
Influenced by the others, I even went back for another serving of fish fillet.
With our tummies full and our feet saved from the dance floor (because of the gorgeous hired DIs), we went home (again) earlier than expected. Fluffy was waiting for me in the office with a meal from Jollibee. I just had to refuse. (And after that, we played 2 rounds of DoTA, I was lucky to randomize a character I’m used at playing.)
Saturday came, I went home, primarily to visit Moochie. We dropped by the grocery store and bought marinated chicken and hotdogs. Those are the only food I can cook for Fluffy since he doesn’t stay long at our house. When we arrived, Lola and my cousin, Kuya Tantan were already eating lunch. We followed right after the chicken was served. The brocolli and pepper Lola cooked were really good. No wonder, Fluffy ate A LOT. Then Lola invited us to the 65th birthday celebration of his brother (my granduncle) on Sunday. I promised to go.
That was yesterday. Together with Michi and my sister, we just commuted to my granduncle’s home in Fairview. Lunch commenced when the important visitors arrived. I promised the day before to touch only the watermelons and mangoes. But the food selection looks just too sumptuous to let pass. I ended up with one serving of each dish except for the shrimp and lechon (see I have a little discipline left in times like these). Different is the case for my elder relatives, even if the venue was half-filled, they nearly walloped the lechon to extinction. ![]()
