Do blessings really come in bad disguises?

Our 1st quarter Physical Fitness Test is just around the corner so I’m really trying to be physically fit even during these times when I cram for my ‘other’ exam.

Yesterday, I surveyed UST to see where I could jog. I found out there’s large enough sidewalk around the university block for me to run around so I decided to practice there. Besides, I’ve also seen a couple of elder men jogging so it must just be suitable for my goal.

This morning, I woke up at 5 am and headed for UST. Our place is just a block away from one side of the school so the walking distance is really convenient. I was already in front of the hospital, almost half of the round when an accident happened.

I always had this depth perception problem and I didn’t see the downward slope of the hospital’s passage. I stepped on it. And I fell on my knees, the left one first, followed by the right, feeling a slight dislocation of my right ankle.

I continued walking after that, maybe I was too embarrased of the guard who muttered “tsk….” When I felt the pain has gone, I continued jogging albeit in a slower pace than before, finished the route and headed home.

It’s been only a while after my incised skin healed, yet another one to my precious collection of scars. The casualty? My left knee of course. I was wearing my sister’s pants so I only got a light bruise. No bleeding. And my right ankle felt fine.

That’s what I thought. Before resuming my sleep/nap, I already felt that it wasn’t a normal fall. I slept wishing any discomfort in rotating my ankle would disappear. It didn’t happen. A few minutes later, I was applying cold compress to my injured foot.

I’m not afraid of having bruises and wounds on my skin. They won’t greatly affect my running performance. But a bad sprain would really render me semi-paralized. I’m doomed to fail the PFT! On the other hand, if I fail, the sprain would really be a good excuse to a failing result. Sometimes, absurd it may seem, I think these small accidents in my daily life are actually blessings in disguise.

I need not worry too much, no?
