Aggregating my favorite blogs on Technorati

I’ve never seriously used the main function of Technorati except to track the sites that are using my two WordPress themes. Now, I guess I already will.

Technorati is a humungous aggregator of weblogs. I find its function similar to the Livejournal’s friends page. As LJ users would know, it’s where the latest journal posts of your LJ “friends” appear. I just recently organized my Technorati account and added to my favorites list the blogs I frequently read or visit. Like the LJ friends page, it makes browsing more efficient because you won’t need to visit every site in your blogroll in search for new posts.

Latest Posts on Yoru's Favorite Blogs at Technorati
This is how the favorite blog’s recent posts show on Technorati’s main page after the user has logged in.

I noticed a few downsides in using Technorati. I’m not sure if it favors some types of blogging software like WordPress or blogging services like Blogger. Apparently, it cannot read some sites from my blogroll links. Another thing is, posts of less frequently updated sites seem to have been skipped by Technorati. A few months ago, I also noticed that it doesn’t update the backlinks to the sites I mentioned above. In fact, if I haven’t seen the linkbacks moving again recently, I wouldn’t have decided to use Technorati seriously now.

But Technorati’s shortcomings are forgivable. I still look forward to maximizing my web experience by using the service. I also encourage my online friends to try it.
