Conquering the streets of Manila?

I take pride in being a commuter, a willing commuter that is. I would always consider going to places in public vehicles an adventure. I started wandering in the big metropolitan area as I began taking my college studies. Of course during my first year, my mom used to take me to school and back home. When she left abroad, I managed to commute from Rizal-Marikina to Katipunan, almost an hour ride in the jeepney. Aside from the straight route from Katipunan to Marikina, I also took an alternate, the Katipunan - UP (Balara) - Marikina route. After getting used to commuting, I thought I somehow conquered the streets of Marikina-Katipunan-UP-Cubao. Since then I've been taking notes of the places I've been to and the places that I could reach travelling alone on public transpo.

Then came the time when I took short courses in web development after college. I would then take the shuttle from Marikina to Ortigas and take the Ortigas-EDSA-Marikina route back home. Again, Libis-C5-Ortigas area was added on the checklist.

I think I've been to Makati once (in the four years I stayed in college), excluding barkada trips care of Daisy's car, and that was when I met up with my gradeschool buddies in Glorietta. I only got to know more about the area when I started working in the camp which is actually situated in Taguig-Makati boundary.

Now I know that there's a straight route to my workplace from Marikina via the C5 road. I can almost travel to any part of the eastern side of Metro Manila (except for Pasig and Pateros).

SLEXFluffy lives in Las Piñas and so I got used to travelling in the bus via the skyway to Alabang. I've also known of the Alabang-Zapote road enabling jeepney routes to Baclaran, which is in Parañaque-Pasay boundary.

The southern roads' accessibility is clear to me now. But what about the northern and western roads? Commuting to the northern part of MM is still vague to me for now. I'm glad to say that I can now commute to the western part of MM (where Manila lies).

When my brother and sister started living in the apartment my parents rented in Sampaloc, I had a brighter opportunity to learn more about Manila. At first, I was jittery wandering about these infamous areas in Manila namely Recto, Morayta, España and Sampaloc. But after four months of travelling to and from here, I'm almost confident that I can commute without worrying much about a missing part of my belongings.
