Meebo

Another AJAXified application is on the loose! :) Say bye to the ancient applets.

Thanks to a link in Lily’s domain, I got warped in Meebo. Now I’m able to log into 6 of my instant messaging accounts, including Yahoo! Messenger, Jabber/Gmail Talk and MSN. It is web-based, hitching with the browser’s memory usage, therefore less resource is used than running 4 or more IM clients at once.

The only problem is I don’t get more visible notifications once I get new messages.

Apparently, the current web-app is less privacy intrusive (if you trust enough their way of processing your different passwords). In the future though, I can see ads populating the site though. It’s inevitable. Look at Google who’s grown so big and yet their supposedly “free” services are teeming with advertisements.

So much for that but a more important thing is because of Meebo, I got to talk to some old friends whom I seldom see. One is moving on to his new job. Goodluck to you! Hope you enjoy your life more. :)

Btw, I’m still sore from last Tuesday’s PFT. I think I’m overeating again. :(

Meebo sounds like an interesting program. But visible notifications of messages are really important, so that must be a big drawback.
