The makings of a metal bitch, favorite Metallica songs
Yes… I do… feel the right to rant about Metallica’s music after spending my measly subsistence allowance on 4 of their albums namely: Master of Puppets, Metallica, Load, and Reload. I was a bit regretful that I didn’t choose to buy Kill ‘Em All, their first album, which was released the year I was born. Yes, 1983.
I was in Grade 2 when I first heard about Metallica. My friend, a 6th grader was a fan - Metallica, Guns and Nirvana… I remember these. She was my idol then. But I my young musical inclination chose Guns ‘n Roses‘ rock over metal. In 1997, then I saw the lyrics of their Load album on a locally printed song book. Came the Mission Impossible OST, I Disappear, where I became more aware of their classic presence.
And then, some weeks (months) ago, I salvaged a piece of Metallica, the The Unforgiven track from their 1991 album, which I instantly became a fan of. And of course, I wouldn’t deny the influences I got from the guys who borrow my acoustic guitar and play Metallica’s Fade to Black like a Kirk-wannabe…
So far, my most favorite tracks (including those ripped from their other albums):
- Orion (Master of Puppets)- a classic, impressive guitar solos by Hetfield and Burton (the bassist)
- The Unforgiven (Metallica) - a ballad with the enchanting intro
- The Unforgiven II (Reload) - remake of the former which deserves no less praise
- Fade to Black (Ride the Lightning) - overly impressed by the guitars…
- One (…And Justice for All) - teh guitar is overpowering…
- Master of Puppets (Master of Puppets) - the first heavy metal music I actually liked
- No Leaf Clover (S&M) - metal + orchestra = absolute auditory pleasure
- Battery (Master of Puppets) - speed kills
- Ain’t My Bitch (Load) - catchy
- Devil’s Dance (Reload) - I think this song is sexy… ;^^
I knew the descriptions were far from justifying my recently found love for Metallica and their music.
