Christmas dinner, karaoke and shining combat boots

Our office decided to celebrate the Christmas outside the premises of our building (partying is STRICTLY prohibited because of the calamities that made the government 3 billions worth of peso poorer). We went to The Fort Strip (not THAT kind of strip, huh!) and ate at Zong’s, which specializes in Singaporean cuisine (I’m not that sure since the food served was also common in most Chinese restaurants I was able to dine in).

Before that, I went into some heck of time with the big bosses of the office. The biggest boss sent for me and asked me to sing karaoke with them. (T_T) This morning, we presented Mr. Big’s “To Be With You” during the Christmas program. I was one of the singers and 2 of our heavy metal classmates the guitarist and vocalist. We sucked! I don’t really know the whole lyrics of the song. I think they didn’t hear my voice well during the program, so in the evening they sent for me to “hear more from me”. AMP.

I was even surprised to learn that our second biggest boss is from same university I graduated from. He’s true BLUE-blooded (meaning, he spent his entire school life there before he went to PMA). Gosh. It’s embarassing to note that from now on, I’ll be shining his shoes because of our common Alma Mater.

Rewind to 1400H. Our boss taught us how to shine combat boots. :D The technique is making Kiwi spread evenly on the shoes by heating the applied Kiwi with flame.

STEPS IN MAKING THE SHINIEST COMBAT BOOTS:

  1. Prepare the following: Kiwi, cotton, water, alcohol, the shoes.
  2. For the heater, dub an adequate amout of cotton with alcohol and set it aflame.
  3. Place even amounts of Kiwi on the leather.
  4. Heat the leather to make the Kiwi stick tightly on it.
  5. Let it cool down a bit.
  6. Repeat #’s 3 to 5 to make a thicker Kiwi application on the leather.
  7. Rub the leather with cotton (or cloth), applying small amounts of water on it.
  8. Repeat #7 until the shoe shines.

Tomorrow is our oath-taking day. We’ll be wearing BDA’s. And I’m now off to the barracks to iron the uniform. Ciao!
