The dreaded blue screen

Wednesday, August 18th, 2004

The first and second time Toshi showed that blue screen was last Monday while I was trying to update the Yahoo! Messenger and Norton Antivirus. It was scary. o.O I am immuned to Windows 98’s instability but that was really the first time Windows XP crashed in my own system. I remember last year when my friend Diane had me fix her Windows XP installation. The scanning system progressed like a turtle. And it was really scary for me then since I wasn’t too familiar with the XP environment.

My cousin’s husband, a sea-man came home with an IBM Thinkpad. It seems like he messed up with some of the system files, some of the icons are gone (the MSIE for example) and the drivers won’t work properly. Tsk. I was hoping I could reinstall Windows XP but I haven’t done it before. Need help.

Since this is a geeky post, I’d like to talk about the unused computer unit at home. And I’m planning to install Redhat Linux there. It’s a Pentium II (upgradable to Pentium III) and the motherboard’s quite old (circa 1999). I’m hoping Linux is not as resource whore as Windows… And I need installers. : )

Pagka-iga-igaya ng Iyong Tahanan

Sunday, August 15th, 2004

Saw Angel Locsin; jammed with kids

Saturday, August 14th, 2004

Yey! I was able to visit Katipunan just this morning! And there was a bonus! I saw Angel Locsin while we were in McDo! :D Pretty, pretty girl. The guys were so eager to have a picture of her. But she was outside so we have to take a peek from inside. :D Good thing the ACIL peeps decided to take lunch there. FYI, Angel Locsin is the star of Mulawin, one of those fantasy soap operas shown on GMA. Speaking of Mulawin, the kids from the area are beginning to associate with the bird-humanoid characters.

I brought my guitar to the area. But I forgot some of the chords of “Papuri sa Diyos” (Gloria) so at some parts of the song, they have to sing a capella. :D Undoubtedly, “Papuri…” is their most favorite church mass song. One more thing, I was surprised that the kids liked the Maggi commercial rap (Parang may isang anghel sa aking labi… etc…). I also find the rap cute and I already knew the lyrics so we jammed!. :D

Parang…

Saturday, August 14th, 2004

(From the Maggi seasoning commercial)

Parang may isang anghel
sa aking labi
Na nakalutang sa ulap
At nangingiliti

Kung ang alat at asim ng buhay
ay tulad ng hain ni Inay
Suspeta ko buong mundo’y

Magiging mapayapa
at masaya…

Project dilemna

Tuesday, August 10th, 2004

I still haven’t chosen a topic for the first course project which will be due in 2 months time. We are supposed to come up with an e-business site. The problem is I have less resources. What products am I going to sell? Although the topics for this project abound the Internet, I’m still confused which one to feature. One major drawback, I didn’t have any Management subject during college.

One of my classmates is a graduate of IT from UA&P, and she knows what business is because they have one. She recommens that I make a Yuyu Hakusho merchandise site since my classmates know I’m an anime fanatic. ‘(^_^) But what about the graphics and the actual products that will be shown on the site?
