I’d still bet on Roco

It’s May 10. National Election day. The 3rd time the Filipinos are going to vote for their president since the ascent of Cory Aquino to the MalacaƱang. The past winners were Fidel V. Ramos (FVR) and Joseph Ejercito Estrada (ERAP). Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo (GMA) was elected vice-president during the time of Erap. When Erap resigned in 2001, GMA became president. Now, I bet she’s going to win against Fernando Poe, Jr., Raul Roco, Panfilo Lacson and Bro. Eddie Villanueva. The survey says it all. Religious sectors have endorsed her. The Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC), Aglipayan Church and even the Catholic charismatic group, El Shaddai. Plus, the “works” up there.

I do not trust the people of the “higher” ranks out there. Vote manipulation usually occurs in there, not in the precint level. Remember the Ramos versus Miriam Defensor-Santiago presidential fight in 1992? Hah! That was close. Who wouldn’t have thought about the “works” up there?

I don’t actually have the right to babble about these things cause I won’t be able to vote. (But hey, I’m a registered voter!) If I were to rank the presidentiables as to my option for voting, I’d list them as follows:

1 Raul Roco
Serving for almost 40 years, he is the most qualified person for the position. Yesterday, while going to the Batasan Hills for our area’s social investigation, we talked about who we’ll be voting in the elections. I told them that I am a solid Raul Roco voter. It’s a more than a loyalty vote. I promised myself during the 1998 elections that I’ll be voting for this man come 2004. I want him the president. He’s not winning obviously. JB was trying to convince me to just join the “force against FPJ” by siding with GMA. Absolutely NO. Even if GMA has the biggest chance of winning against the mass-supported FPJ. I won’t state my reasons. I admit they’re too confusing, even for me to understand.

2 Bro. Eddie Villanueva
I believe in his advocacy for moral transformation. It wouln’t matter if he’s from a sectarian party (Jesus Is Lord). He believes that religion doesn’t matter as long as we have a personal relationship with God. Only Roco and the fact that he might not be willing to resign as JIL’s bishop hinders me from placing him as number one. My reason for the latter is simple as he cannot serve two masters at a time.

3.5 Ping Lacson and GMA
Either of the two. They’re qualified to be presidents. Gloria has shown her skills while holding the office for 3 years. Ping, I’d choose definitely because he’s a disciplinarian. I could tell, not only from the surveys, that Gloria has a strong hold of the administration. We went to Batasan Hill’s Barangay Hall and talked with a staff. All praises to Gloria, that’s what I heard. But I could relate Lacson to the barangay captain. Because of his military nature (his life could be portrayed by action stars Bong Revilla or Robin Padilla), criminals have been put to jail.

5 Fernando Poe, Jr.
I don’t care to state my reasons, much like he didn’t show up in debates.

I can now post a pic of Mochi!!! Soon!
